  1. I bought this for a wedding gift. As far as I know, it works fine.

  2. I only use a mixer at Christmas time, since I try to cook the “interesting recipes”, I have found during the year. This mixer works as advertized and is perfect for my yearly cooking.

My wife cooks the rest of the year.

Now can anyone explain why my pound cake was so dry?

  3. Last year for Christmas, my fiance purchased this Cuisinart HSM-70 220 Watts Hand/Stand Mixer. The Cuisinart Mixer’s interface/controls are easy to use and comes with a 3.5 quart stainless steel mixing bowl plus beater attachments. I enjoyed the mixer versitility of being a stand and hand mixer combo; in addition to its lightness. I’ve made cookies, brownies, cakes, etc. with this mixer. Unfortunately, a few months ago we were making cupcakes and didn’t add enough water to the mixture; the mixture became thick and suddenly the mixer sparked and began to smoke. The mixer no longer worked and we took it apart to see if the mixer could be fixed and the parts are all plastic. Perhaps I am partly to blame for the failure of this mixer; however, this mixer is cheaply made and I believe you get what you pay for. Luckily I had my Kitchen Aid hand mixer that I’ve owned for 5 plus years to finish the cupcakes. From my experience I would not recommend this mixer to anyone, pay a little extra and get something more sturdy.

  4. I have been looking for the perfect mixer for my needs. I just began a cake and pastry class and I have been looking for power and effiency without the high price tag. This cuisinart mixer offers me that. I have the best of both world as a stand or a hand mixer.Mixes well.

  5. In most cases you get what you pay for. I didn’t want to pay $300-400 for a pretty Artisan stand mixer that would sit there and be used once a month or less. My main purpose for a mixer was to be able to cream butter and sugar, whip egg whites, and at times make some dough.

The dough hooks on this mixer are anemic and look like a child’s toy. The bowl does rotate, but all it does is spread out the materials being mixed onto the sides of the bowl and it requires constant attention, scraping, and monitoring.

Whipping egg whites does work, but to have faster and more even results means you should remove the mixer and use it at as hand mixer.

The lowest speed setting is too fast, but the variation between the lowest and highest setting doesn’t vary as much as you would expect, which is very annoying. It would be far better if low really was low and slow and the increments increased gradually.
