  1. I saw the reviews and warnings below; even commented on them, but I needed a mixer TODAY so I dashed down to Walmart to get it.

I brought it home and looked all over for the warning, forgetting that it was on the bottom of the box.

I don’t know what to think of it, as I commented already; and feel sure that that warning is probably all over the place on any number of items we’ve all bought and purchased over the years and never knew was there. A part of me feels that if it truly was important then maybe the warning would be more prominent for the consumer or is that just wishful thinking and trying to give the benefit of the doubt? I’m not wanting to be cynical either! Geez..

Anyway, regarding the performance of the actual product itself, it is a good little item and the Walmart reviews for the same item are very high – the consumers are quite happy with it, deservedly so.

I did notice that one of my beaters had a ‘collar’ while the other did not. How odd..

Still they both seemed to click in and stay ‘locked’ so I guess it’s not a problem. Hope not.

I probably only need or use a mixer once a year anyway.

And, yes, I’ll wash my hands..

  2. The power cord on this product contains lead. Lead poisoning is known to cause impaired brain function. The warning on the box recommends that you “wash hands after handling”. The mixer comes with a storage case. The mixer with the cord containing lead is stored in the container with the attachments. Do you want to use such a product to prepare food?

  3. Black & Decker MX217 PowerPro 250-Watt 6-Speed Handheld Mixer with Storage Case, Blacki received this today and it is the only product i have ever ordered from Amazon, that i am unhappy with. It has nice attachements and the mixer seems to be powerful. But i did not notice the small warning on the bottom of the box: cord contains lead, wash hands. i would not have noticed it, if i had not seen the review from someone else. I think, this will be my last Black & Decker purchase.

  4. Cheap? Yes. Powerful? Enough. Quite? No. Easy to Use? Not. Durable? No. Only two out of five. It is a hassle to install the beaters… and worse is that they are held in place (somewhat) by a inner plastic ring. One of the beaters came out during use and it stripped the inner plastic ring; now it will not latch in place. You can get a durable Cuininart HM-50 for the same price (no brainer) or the Consumer Reports recommend KitchenAid Power 5 for about $10 more Do yourself a favor and look around. Not recommended

  5. I got this to replace an old hand mixer. Got sucked in by the storage case, all attachments, etc. It turns out that this mixer is powerful (thus the two stars) but deafeningly loud, shakes in your hand and overall poor quality. On the second use (simple cookies, cake dough, nothing heavy, using the appropriate speed settings) the one of the beaters broke. The wire just came off of the rod and that was that. Very disappointed. Stay away – not worth the bells and whistles.
